Apple Fritter is an indica-dominant strain that’s gained a solid reputation among cannabis enthusiasts for its unique combination of flavor and effects. Known for its sweet, dessert-like aroma with hints of apple and vanilla, this strain appeals to those seeking a flavorful smoking experience.

Beyond its delicious taste, the Apple Fritter offers a potent punch that can provide deep relaxation, making it suitable for evening use or when stress relief is needed. However, there’s more to this strain than meets the eye.

In this review, I’ll talk about my experience with this strain, the characteristics that set Apple Fritter apart, uncover its origins, and discuss what makes it a favorite choice for both recreational and medicinal users.

Story Time: My Experience with the Apple Fritter Strain

As far as my experience with the Apple Fritter strain is concerned, I just tried it for the first time a couple of months ago. I certainly wasn’t expecting how high it made me.

Yes, I was aware that it contained around 28% THC, but I figured that as someone who has been smoking weed for over 15 years, it wouldn’t be all that serious. I was pretty wrong.

It’s not like the high it produced was unenjoyable, just much stronger than I had initially anticipated. It all started out with an extreme wave of euphoria that washed over my head and made it feel like I was skyrocketing up through the clouds. I also felt super giggly and talkative, and suddenly, I couldn’t help but feel very happy. I personally think it’s a great strain for social anxiety.

That said, the indica genetics then took over. I started feeling really sedated, and my fingers started tingling a little bit. I started feeling quite heavy. I also started feeling hungry, and after about two hours after my first hit, I felt like I just wanted to sit around and relax.

Something I do have to warn you about, however, is that due to its high THC content, it may produce slight feelings of paranoia and anxiety. I did experience some of these feelings when I smoked a huge blunt, although that was after about two full grams of Apple Fritter, which is much more than people would ever smoke at once.

What is the Apple Fritter Strain?

The Apple Fritter strain has been around for quite some time now, and it is a true hybrid in the sense that it is evenly balanced between indica and sativa. It produces both a potent cerebral high as well as a relaxing body high. As you’re about to find out below, it is a descendant of two other extremely popular strains.

Apple Fritter Strain Appearance

The Apple Fritter strain has a very interesting appearance, with buds generally being fairly large and unevenly shaped. Many of them look kind of like maple leaves or other kinds of leaves with points on them. You can also expect the buds to be extremely dense, hard, and solid to the touch.

As for coloration, Apple Fritter is very unique, as it contains a whole lot of purple sugar hairs, to the point where the buds are almost more purple than anything else. Although, there is a good deal of dark green underneath, combined with orange pistils, and an extremely thick layer of snowy white trichomes that are laden with THC.

Apple Fritter Strain Genetics

As mentioned above, the Apple Fritter strain is fairly evenly balanced between indica and sativa, and it’s the result of a cross between Sour Apple and Animal Cookie strains.

First, we have Sour Apple, also known as Sour Apple Diesel, which is an evenly balanced hybrid strain. It contains THC levels of roughly 18%, and as you can tell by the name of it, has a very sour and fruity taste.

We then have Animal Cookies, also referred to as Animal Crackers, a hybrid cannabis strain, which itself is a cross between fire OG and Girl Scout cookies. It has an extremely sweet taste, reminiscent of cookies, along with THC levels of roughly 19%.

Apple Fritter Strain THC/CBD Content

The Apple Fritter marijuana strain has the potential to contain up to 28% THC, and generally contains no less than 24% THC. There are also some specimens which may range up to 30% THC, or even higher. There is a good reason why it’s been featured on lists of the strongest strains out there!

Although I can handle this THC level just fine, there are times where it is too much, especially if I still have something to do during the day. That much THC is extremely intoxicating, and I certainly find that it impairs my judgment and motor skills.

Yeah, that much THC is fine if you plan on sitting around for the rest of the day and brainlessly binge-watching some movies and TV shows, but it’s probably not the best choice if you still have tasks to accomplish. That THC level is going to leave your head in a cloud.

Apple Fritter Strain Terpenes

The Apple Fritter strain contains three dominant terpenes, starting with caryophyllene, followed by limonene, and finally, pinene. Let’s take a quick look at what this means exactly. First, we have caryophyllene, which tends to be quite earthy, spicy, and sharp. It’s also a great terpene because it has the potential to act as an anti-inflammatory (and, therefore, pain) and relieve some anxiety.

Next on the list is limonene, a terpene known for its distinct citrus flavor profile, along with its potential to help relieve some symptoms associated with anxiety and stress. Finally, we have pinene, a terpene known for its distinctive pine tree flavor. Pinene has the potential to act as an anti-inflammatory, relieve pain, and promote relaxation.

Although experiences differ from person to person, I assume that these terpenes are mostly to thank for the common effects that the Apple Fritter strain has on me.

Apple Fritter Strain Effects

To start off by summarizing the potential benefits of this strain, as mentioned above, thanks to the various terpenes it contains, there is a potential to relieve some stress, anxiety, pain, and inflammation. Of course, for the most part, this is also true thanks to the high THC level itself, with THC often being associated with pain and inflammation relief. In some cases, especially in smaller quantities, THC may also relieve some symptoms associated with stress and anxiety.

In terms of the actual effects that you’ll feel, you can expect it to start off with a very pronounced cerebral high. In other words, it’s going to hit your head, and very hard at that.

From my own personal experience, I can say that you should expect to feel like your head is floating up in the clouds, with a very strong sense of euphoria. You’ll likely feel very happy, giggly, and talkative.

That said, due to the very high THC level, for some people, this euphoric high can be a little overpowering. Therefore, I do recommend starting slow.

Soon after the initial cerebral kick wears off, I noticed that the indica side of things really came through.  My body started feeling heavy, I felt a bit sedated, and I noticed that I felt a lot calmer and more relaxed in general. For this reason, I would say that the Apple Fritter strain is a good one for later on in the day when you need something that will eventually help put you to sleep.

Apple Fritter Strain Reported Flavors

The Apple Fritter strain is quite delicious. It tastes like a sweet and fruity dessert, and it definitely has a distinct apple flavor, almost like a granny smith. On the exhale, I also noticed that there’s a bit of a vanilla cake flavor, and even a bit of herbal notes that lingered on the tongue long after I let the smoke out.

Apple Fritter Strain Growing Info

The Apple Fritter strain is not overly difficult to grow. As long as it gets adequate sunlight, humidity levels are kept around 50%, and temperatures are kept within an average range, it should grow just fine.

It’s fairly resilient towards pests, disease, and changing conditions, making it somewhat beginner friendly. When grown outdoors, you can expect these plants to yield up to 600 grams, or up to 500 grams per square meter when grown indoors.

Who I Would Recommend the Apple Fritter Strain For

I would recommend the Apple Fritter strain for anybody who has experimented with lower THC strains, and now wants something much more potent. Remember, THC levels of the Apple Fritter strain can border on 30%, so it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.

If you want the experience of both a potent cerebral and body high, then it’s worth a try. It also has great potential to act as a pain reliever, a sleep aid, and may even take away a bit of stress and anxiety. That said, if you’re a beginner with a low THC tolerance, then I would start out with something a bit milder.

How and When I Like to Enjoy This Strain

The Apple Fritter strain is quite a unique one, particularly because it’s a hybrid. I would say that it is best reserved for the end of the day. Although it does at first produce a strong cerebral high, thanks to its indica half, it is also quite sedating.

It’s not something that’s energizing in nature, so I generally don’t consume this strain in the morning.

I personally like taking just a few small hits out of a pipe, because a couple of hits are more than enough with this potent strain. I’ll usually take a few hits out of my pipe, gather some snacks, and enjoy a day or night of doing nothing at all.
